Christenings In The Bahamas

Believers and the children of believers become members of God's covenant community (or church) through baptism. It is believed by some Christians that in the heart of a baptised child, faith as a gift or grace from God, as distinct from an act by the person, is made present. This is "wikipedia's" definition of a christening. Some ask, what is the difference between christening and baptism.

The difference between christening and baptizing the baby is....Nothing. Christening is the old name for Baptism. When babies are baptised, their parents promise to help them grow up as Christians. Water is sometimes poured on the baby to symbolise a fresh start with God. Also, the purpose of a christening (as we commomly call it in the Bahamas) is providing a symbol that you want to bring your child up in the eyes of God, & will try to provide them with Christian beliefs to the best of your abilities. The water represents a fresh start after having been born into human sin. Usually, the parents must be members of the church where the ceremony takes place, but in many churches it's not mandatory. The process also includes choosing person in the form of "God-Parent" who will continue to carrying on the task if or when the parent are unable too.

We have had the pleasure of shooting many christening of the years, whil most are baby's some are toddlers, and even young 4-6 year old kids. Shooting them are always warm, toucning and fun experience.
